Part Two: Poster for Tomorrow Competition

Enter the Poster for Tomorrow design current contest. March 3rd-31st, 2014.

Class meet: March 7th, 21st, 28th

Two Teams:

Phase One: Research & Conceptualization –  write your full analysis paper with the correct format (your name on the top left, project title “Poster for Tomorrow” on the top right, date as the second line below your name; then two double line space before the body text. Use either InDesign or the other Adobe programs), containing the following components:

1. an in-depth analysis of the previous winners of the posterfortomorrow.org site (look into the creative briefs and the galleries). Find out why they were selected and how that insight may direct your work for this year’s competition;

2. search online for three excellent advertising designers whose work is representative of conceptual design. Use their visual examples and write down your reflection and how that could influence your design approaches;

3. your conceptualization for this year’s competition, which should be explicit in: the concept(s), the thoughts, and your desired solution to the visual problem.

At this stage, do not sketch yet. Try to spend as much time in brainstorming as possible. Talking with your friends and classmates concerning the subject usually helps a lot.

Phase Two:  Sketching. Create as many sketches as possible. Follow your heart and mind while you do this, soon you’ll enjoy this step and want to try more design ideas. Bring your thumbnail sketches to me when we meet. At least 30 sketches of good quality design per team.

Phase Three: graphic design production. Make your artwork with a myriad of techniques.
